Air
International flights land in either Mumbai (Bombay), Chennai (Madras) or Benguluru (Bangalore).
AIRLINE SERVICES TO PUTTAPARTHI
Domestic
As at 30 December 2007, no domestic airlines have offered services to Puttaparthi for 24 months. The Sathya Sai Airport is closed to normal domestic flights. All domestic travel is to Benguluru airport, thence taxi or bus or train to Prashanti Nilayam.

New Bangalore Airport
For International Travellers, a new airport opened on 11 May 2008. This airport is located at Muddenahalli, which is approximately 35 kilometres from Bangalore. The Main access to Bangalore will be National Highway 7, otherwise known as NH7. The airport is approximately 35 minutes from Whitefield Ashram, and 2 hours travel time to Prashanthi Nilayam. Most international flights arrive late at night. Devotees have the option of going to accommodation first at Whitefield for the evening, then travel to Puttaparthi. Taxi charge for collection at Bangalore to Accomodation at Whitefield is Rs 900
National Highway 7 (NH7) the road you take to travel to Puttaparthi is being duplicated to dual lane highway all the way to the Palasumudram turnoff. Highway is dual lanes all the way to Palasumudram turnoff. Travel time to Puttaparthi is approximately 2.5 hours.
Rail - Train to Prashanti Nilayam
Trains ply regularly between Bangalore City and Prashanti Nilayam. The railway station, with four platforms, is called Sri Sathya Sai Prashanti Nilayam, (Acronym SSPN) and is host to as many as 18 trains per day in each direction.
There is a DIRECT BUS, "TRAIN LINK", some 6 kilometers away. The direct bus goes straight inside the ashram, and drops passengers at the Accommodation Office.

Bus

Deluxe Buses, Andhra Pradhesh RTC and Karnakata RTC Buses ply daily from Bangalore, Chennai, Tirupati, Hyderabad and other places, to Puttaparthi. There is also a daily bus Prashanti Nilayam - Brindavan. This departs at 1pm outside the entrance to Whitefield Ashram, and goes to and from Puttaparthi. Entrance to Prashanti Nilayam Bus Station
There is a Chennai - Puttaparthi bus service; overnight. In Chennai, the Puttaparthi bus leaves from the Andra Pradesh RTC Bus Station. This is a separate bus station some kilometers away from the Chennai Main Bus Station. Fare is reasonable, but take your own drink and food; the hotels at the bus stops are not much to speak of.
Taxi
Prashanti Nilayam is only 110 kilometers from the new Airport. It is recommended to travel direct to Prashanti Nilayam, as the highway is now completely a divided road - two lanes each side. Travel time from the new airport to Prashanti Nilayam is approximately 2.5 hours

Your Travel and Ashram Accommodation
Devotees travelling to Prasanthi Nilayam are requested to note that the accommodation office will function daily from 6 am to 8 pm.
Devotees requiring accommodation in the ashram are requested to plan their travel so that they are in the accommodation office between these hours. You will not be admitted to the ashram in a taxi after 8PM at night. You need to go to a hotel in Puttaparthi Township or Whitefield, which ever you prefer to do. Taxi operators are listed on our Accommodation Page.
Important Note for Overseas Devotees
Overseas devotees are now allowed only 30 days stay in the ashram per year. Many devotees that have just arrived - that were here earlier e.g. Birthday, Christmas or for Shivarathi - are now being refused accommodation because their 30 days are already up.
This 30 day period runs from July to June of the next year - Guru Purnima to Guru Purnima. If you have stayed in the ashram once in a 12 month period and that stay exceeeds 30 days, then you must find accommodation elsewhere. the old 60 day rule has been sent aside. This is on account of the huge influx of devotees arriving daily.
